Maria Giacona
Maria Giacona is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. She has won various awards, including first place for wedding cake design and assembly for the 139th Salon of Culinary Arts competition in NYC. She also received recognition for her whimsical cake designs, one of which was featured in the 2008 Culinary Institute Catalog of Cakes. Maria’s skills continued to blossom while employed as a pastry chef at various five star establishments in New York and Massachusetts. Her position as chief wedding and specialty cake designer at The Hotel Syracuse and Pascale’s Catering further inspired her to finally develop her own business.
Maria’s passion for art, baking, and belief in delivering a quality product became the driving force for La Dolce Vita Bakeshop. La Dolce Vita specializes in custom designed cakes and pastries that are a reflection of each client’s personal style. Our goal is to balance the simple with the extraordinary and the traditional with the innovative. We strive to exceed your expectations, creating a memorable dessert for your special day.

Our wedding was made extra special by the wedding cake that Maria put together for us. A white frosting cake with our china pattern circling around each layer, plum-colored, gum paste, cala lilies and silk monarch butterflies reflected our style so well, mine especially!! Also, for our rehearsal dinner Maria and I conspired to give my husband a huge surprise in the form of a 1 1/2 foot 3-D Yoda cake. It was awesome!
